Unexpected visitors

It was delightful to see Sine from Colonsay. She came late in the afternoon with, driven by her nephew Peter, to visit us before returning to Colonsay via Oban. Although a wee bit frailer and thinner, the spark that lights her life was still there to see. She looked better than when we met last year, and was dressed beautifully, as usual. We caught up with Colonsay news and her own family news and all too soon, she was off again to stay in the hotel overnight and then drive her new car from Helensburgh to Oban. She has amazing spirit that has brought her through some very difficult times during her eighty plus years. It was a great pleasure to spend time with her.Safe journey home Sine!!

Yet another sunshine day!
10/03/2010, 14:13
This morning the bees were buzzing-Joan was cleaning out the inside of the car, and I was cleaning the cooker and kitchen. We began and nine and were surprised to find that we were still at it by noon. It was time to stop. More can be done another day. We were both surprised that we had energy to spare, even after such exertions. It must be spring in the air and the presence of sunshine adding to our hearty dispositions. Long may it continue.

Lies, lies and yet more lies!

Blair did it too many times. Now here we have his successor doing exactly the same. Lies....lies....lies. When will we ever be privy to the TRUTH about the wars our young people are involved in? But then I suppose it's about who you believe, one of Britain's top defence officials and a coroner in Oxford, or the son of the manse who resides at number 10?
I know who I believe.

More like summer than winter

After yesterday's warmth, we were treated to ANOTHER warm day when we could sun ourselves on the deck. And that was a huge surprise after the ICE that descended overnight and covered car windows with a glazing that was obscure to say the least.
It was barely above zero when we headed for Dumbarton and our weekly shop, but by the time we got home, temperatures were in double figures-not quite tee-shirt time, but very close to it! More of the same would be very nice.

Sunbathing on the deck already!

Yes, believe it or not, I was on the deck this afternoon sunning myself. I took my lead from Dougal who found a nice warm spot while I was pottering with plants.
And speaking of plants.......I was astonished to discover that carrots I had planted late last summer had actually grown big enough for eating. It made me think that I might just change my plan about NOT having veg. this year in preference to flowers. Maybe I'll just have to grow a variety of edibles after all!
